Community Outreach Officer to join our Corporate Relations team. Reporting

directly to the Director of Corporate Relations, this position will perform a variety of duties, including the development and implementation of various programs, products and services. The Community Outreach Officer will assist the organization to better anticipate emerging issues and identify opportunities to better serve the designated groups within the community. This position will establish mutually beneficial relationships with community leaders and the credit union industries organizations that are related to serving the underserved, the “un-banked” markets. In addition, this position will be the credit union’s advocate for members and potential members of modest means. A minimum of four years of experience in external affairs, corporate community communications or marketing along with a BA/BS in Sociology, Public Administration, Marketing, Public Relations, Political Science or related field or the equivalent experience is required. You must be bilingual in English and Spanish, have strong presentation and networking skills along with PC skills to include Microsoft Office. This

position will require attending meetings and responding to issues during evenings

and/or weekends. Travel and overnight stay will be required.

 Information and Referral/Database Specialist-Part-time (211 call Center)

 

Job Description:

Salary: $12.95/hr - $14.95/hr depending on skills & experience. Additional 5% for bilingual skills in Asian Languages, Spanish or Russian. Non-exempt position. 10 - 20 hours per week.

 

Summary:  Information and Referral/Database Specialist (I&R/D Specialist) is responsible for delivering consistent and professional service to callers with health, human and social service needs via telephone, in person, e-mail or other forms of communication. Specialist will assess and refer callers to appropriate services. Calls range from requests for simple information to complex cases with multiple needs requiring research, advocacy and crisis intervention. The Specialist will also perform various database operations requiring, but not limited to, indexing, editing, recordkeeping and data entry.  

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

·         Answer incoming calls on assigned schedule, assessing caller’s needs and making accurate referrals as necessary.

·         Develop working knowledge of health and human services network in order to help callers effectively access services;

·         Follow up calls to determine if referral resulted in needs being met;

·         Perform on-going community research to identify and add resources to the community services database;

·         Compile, edit, code and classify data for community services database;

·         Maintain quality control procedures for updating and reporting data.

·         Work effectively in team atmosphere.

·         Answer general information queue, when not servicing assigned specialty queue.

·         Additional duties and/or responsibilities as may be assigned by Call Center Management.

 

Qualifications:  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.

 

Education and/or Experience:

  • Two years college and/or technical school; OR       
  • Three years experience in Information and Referral/Assistance or equivalent experience working directly with clients, such as client intake.

 

Other Skills and Abilities:

  • Effective verbal & written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with diverse and multi-cultural individuals, being non-judgmental and respectful of the confidential nature of the job;

·         Reading Comprehension and Analytical skills;

·         Ability to classify information/indexing experience;

·         Ability to edit text and data;

·         Possess clerical/record keeping skills.

 

Computer Skills:

 

To perform this job successfully, an individual should be able to use Microsoft Office software and possess a working knowledge of relational database systems/software.

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Seek and attain Certified Information & Referral (CIRS) credential when eligible.
