The Alliance for Business and Community
Purpose, Goals and Objectives
Purpose of the Alliance:
-
The Alliance For Business and Community, (hereafter simply referred to as Alliance), is to expand business relationships & economic opportunities for its collective membership.
-
The Alliance promotes opportunities to partner and collaborate in providing services, advocacy and products that benefit the collective membership.
-
The ultimate goal is to provide added value and benefits to the services each chamber can provide to its membership.
-
The Alliance objective is to gain access to decision-makers, community stakeholders and corporations and government agencies on behalf of its membership.
-
The Alliance will develop problem-solving task forces to provide outreach, education and services to various groups that results in needed business services.
-
The Alliance provides an opportunity for the business community to address issues that impact the growing diversity and cultural differences in the region.
Why are the ethnic chambers forming an Alliance?
-
Although the founding members happen to be ethnic organizations, they remain committed to be inclusive in our membership. Its strength is to accept all diversity and be reflective of the communities that they serve.
-
Recognizing that California no longer has a majority population, the Alliance does not use the word minority. Ethnic is preferable if a term has to be used.
How do we get into the alliance if you are inclusive?
-
Any business association or group can join the Alliance
-
The Alliance is newly formed. The founding members are continually reviewing how they can expand their outreach to include other business associations that share some of the same purposes, goals, and objectives as the Alliance.
How does the Alliance work?
-
Anything the Alliance decides has to be by unanimous vote. Each individual Chamber still makes its own decisions outside of the Alliance.
-
The founding members representatives are the decision makers for the Alliance
-
The President, Chief Executive Officer, Executive Director or a duly authorized designee of each founding chamber will serve as the representative and participate in Alliance activities.
-
The Alliance was formed through a memorandum of understanding.
-
The Alliance is self-funded by each chamber. They do not accept monetary donations but expect to be compensated or reimbursed for providing services.
